THE DIRECT ANSWER

Cost follows the evidence gaps. A clean corporate structure and a complete payroll history need far less work than a group that has been restructured or a role that must be reconstructed from memory. Company-side document gathering, counsel's assessment, and dependants each form separate lines.

Price the assessment separately from the filing

Ask for the eligibility review to be scoped and priced on its own, so the household can stop if that review finds a real problem before further money is spent. Then ask what a filing package adds: position drafting, corporate evidence, dependant assistance, and responses to later questions. Confirm any government charges at the time of the relevant step rather than budgeting from a figure quoted months earlier.

Hypothetical example: a specialty chemicals distributor commissions a full filing package before anyone examines the ownership chain, and a registry search four weeks later shows the two entities are held by different investor groups with no qualifying relationship. A first review would have ordered that search on day one, at a cost of a few hundred dollars, and paused everything else until it returned. Ask for the eligibility review to be scoped and priced separately from the filing, so that the business can make a small decision before it is asked to make a large one.
