Not automatically. Each joining spouse and each unmarried child under 21 must be considered in the initial application and carries an additional US$15,000 processing fee and an additional US$1,000,000 gift. Ask whether the quoted scope includes reviewing each person's eligibility and admissibility, or only the principal's, and confirm which name appears on the engagement.
Name every intended family member up front
List everyone the household expects to join before scope and fees are settled, including anyone whose plans are tentative. Because family members belong in the initial application, leaving someone off the list changes both the legal work and the amounts involved. Ask how the adviser handles a conflict between household members, and who receives advice if interests diverge.
If a child's age or marital status may change during the process, raise it for specific review rather than assuming. Ask one question that households rarely think to raise: what happens if the advice for one family member differs from the advice for another. An adviser engaged by the principal is not thereby acting for a spouse or an adult child, and interests can genuinely diverge where one person's history raises an admissibility question that would affect the timing of everyone else's case.
Establish whose name is on the engagement, who receives advice, and how a conflict would be handled, before the list of intending family members is settled and the amounts are calculated from it.
